Do you see anything sparkly???? This is Coloma, on the American River, and this is where Mr. Sutter built his mill, not in Sutter Creek. John Marshall who built the saw mill and the trace- a diversion of the river to run the water wheel, found the gold nugget in the trace a couple of feet from here in 1849. It changed everything!!
