Coulterville, CA, Sept. 2006

Coulterville is on CA 49, at the end of the most unbelievable switchbacks. We bid a fond farewell to 49 here, mostly because the rider in the passenger seat had cried 'uncle.' The building houses the engine for the train that made the trip to the mines and carried the gold down to the next train. But, the tree is the hanging tree, that was put to use at least once.
