
This and the jackass are on top of Jackass Hill. Mark Twain lived here when he was still Sam, while on a sabbatical from reporting in Sacramento/San Francisco. He lived with his friends the Gillis brothers and Dan Stoker, who were miners. Luckily, Sam didn't make it as a miner, but the others didn't find much either. Best I can tell they spent most of the time shooting the breeze and story telling. The jumping frog from Calaveras County was a knee slapper for several days. I don't think the bars were on the cabin when Sam was there.
